ESPRESSO POLICE

A quick background might help. We are the people who worked at the Caffé Pergolesi in Santa Cruz, California from 1974 through 1977. After the caffé sold we could not find decent espresso outside of San Francisco’s North Beach, and even there it was not always perfect. The Caffé Pergolesi was not unlike caffés around the world at that time. Things happened. Generally, they were good things. We will explore the meaning of espresso, coffee houses from several points of view, all correct naturally. In time, the reader might understand. A recently seen tea shirt read: To be understood is a luxury. At the outset it must be clearly stated that the ESPRESSO POLICE is far removed from yuppie fussy double soy latte bullshit. Good espresso does exist, it is just difficult to find other than in Italy. Esoterica is good fun, but finding a decent espresso is serious business. The task of the ESPRESSO POLICE is to aid the public in locating drinkable espresso in convivial settings rather than to flaunt our deep knowledge of coffee. Our standards are high and not easily set to lists, rather they will become obvious as one reads these pages over time. The ESPRESSO POLICE will provide the unsuspecting public with reviews of caffés, coffee products, including coffee table books, coffee tables, music, art, literature, cities, countries, people or just about any random idea that comes to us. This service is free.
